Hoplin Jackson Expands Philanthropic Advising Capabilities with New Talent

After years of collaboration and adjacent partnership, Hoplin Jackson Charitable Advisors (HJ) announced an exciting development for the HJ team.  Three exceptional new leaders will join HJ, effective immediately, including:

  • Vice President of Advisory Services Heather Stohler

  • Director of Research & Programs Nathaniel Moldoff

  • Director of Operations Dana Saraco

All three individuals have excellent experience in serving the philanthropic sector through positions at private foundations, nonprofits, and other for-profit entities.  They bring a wealth of knowledge, skills, and expertise to Hoplin Jackson’s charitable advising services.

In particular, at the iconic Snider Foundation (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), all three provided thoughtful and wise counsel to the Snider Foundation Board in its decision-making and ultimate distribution of more than $126 million to worthy nonprofits across the country.  The Snider Foundation has closed its doors.  In its place, four new private foundations, each led by one of Ed Snider’s children, have been created to continue stewarding his legacy and values.  Hoplin Jackson will continue to work with each of the four new entities, while expanding its capabilities to serve even more clients with its growing and talented team.

Hoplin Jackson Charitable Advisors is a boutique consulting firm offering bespoke and highly customized charitable giving insights to its high net worth clients.  The addition of three new members of the team will greatly enhance HJ’s operations and the high-quality insights it delivers.

Vice President of Advisor Services Heather Stohler, prior to her nearly ten years at the Snider Foundation, worked for the Mann—a local music venue.  Heather has broad familiarity with the unique needs of high net worth families and excels at conceiving and implementing entrepreneurial projects, designing win-win solutions to complex problems.  Heather will manage a team of employees and outside vendors to enhance client relationships, design deliverables, and grow the company’s portfolio of clients.

Director of Research & Programs Nathaniel Moldoff, prior to his time at Snider, also spent time as a fundraising consultant at Perry Davis Associates.   He is adept at analyzing macroeconomic and philanthropic trends.  In addition, he is proficient in evaluating nonprofit financials, including audits and IRS tax filings.  Nathaniel will lead in developing new grantmaking strategies based on his analysis and deep dive research capabilities.

Director of Operations Dana Saraco previously worked at a market research and consulting firm.  She has extensive knowledge of the back-office operations of private foundations and best practices in governance adhering to donor intent.  Dana has superior expertise in administrating grant applications and grant agreements with succinctness , IT and database management with efficiency and accuracy, and meaningful, personalized event planning for meetings, retreats, and other events.

Together, the three new members of the HJ team bring a high degree of honor, integrity, discretion, and a commitment to excellence to HJ’s operations.

“We’re thrilled to be growing the capabilities of the HJ team and are confident that Heather, Nathaniel, and Dana will provide our expanding client base with the attentive service, exhibiting the can-do spirit with which they are accustomed,” said founder and president Nicole Hoplin.
