Do No Harm Wins National Philanthropy Prize

(Washington D.C.) – December 1, 2022 Do No Harm, a nonprofit organization dedicated to patient-focused healthcare that is free from identity politics, was selected as the winner of the 2022 Gregor G. Peterson Prize in Venture Philanthropy. Launched in April 2022 by Dr. Stanley Goldfarb, Do No Harm’s chairman and former associate dean of curriculum at the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine, Do No Harm was selected by the Peterson family from a pool of more than 70 nonprofit nominees nationally.

The award was presented Thursday, December 1, during the American Legislative Exchange Council’s Nation & States Summit in Washington, D.C.

“We are very excited to be selected by the Peterson Family for this award,” said Goldfarb. “The Peterson Prize is one of the biggest in the nonprofit space, and we are grateful for their recognition of our fight for individual patients – and against identity politics.”

Since its launch, Do No Harm has been at the forefront of keeping politics out of the doctor's office and the medical curriculum by fighting against the radical ideology of “anti-racism” in healthcare. They have filed lawsuits against major health care companies as well as the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for race-based discrimination practices, and the group has published numerous reports about medical institutions and organizations across America pushing divisive ideology on their medical students and staff.

“Do No Harm is doing important work to ensure that all the doctors, nurses, and medical professionals we rely upon in our daily lives are the most qualified and best equipped to treat patients.  Above all, Do No Harm is making sure that our healthcare system remains committed to developing exceptional talent and delivering color-blind treatments rather than implementing arbitrary and repudiated assertions of bias,” said Eric Peterson, son of the Prize’s namesake, Greg Peterson.

The $250,000 prize honors Greg Peterson’s core business principles—including teamwork, innovation, and an entrepreneurial spirit—and applies these values to the nonprofit sector.  Peterson was a pioneer in the field of venture capital from the San Francisco Bay Area.
